A 5 days Mount Elgon National Park Uganda mountaineering safari is a rewarding hiking tour in Uganda to one of the easily accessible and hike able mountain in the Eastern border of Uganda with Kenya. Day 1 of your 5 days Mount Elgon National Park Uganda mountaineering safari

Your professional Uganda safari driver guide will pick you up as early as possible to start the drive to Mount Elgon National Park. After arriving at Budadiri which is the starting point for the hike to the Sasa trail, your guide will arrange the ranger guide, camping gear, food and the porters then you will hike to sasa river camp which is 2900m where you will spend the night. Because of the installed sturdy staircases by Uganda Wildlife Authority, this hike is easier as you go past the steep rainforest and bamboo forest landscapes. For about 7-8 hours you will be hiking to reach sasa river camp though it depends on your physical strength.

Day 2 of your 5 days Mount Elgon National Park Uganda mountaineering safari

After breakfast at the sasa river camp, you will proceed with the hike through the beautiful landscapes to Mude cave campsite 3500m above sea level. This hike takes about 4-5 hours where you will rest for an overnight.

Day 3 of your 5 days Mount Elgon National Park Uganda mountaineering safari

You will walk through the moorland zone from Mude camp to Wagagai peak 4321m above sea level. It is recommendable to reach the peak before midday when the peak isn’t covered by cloud cover. You will return to the Mude campsite for a night.

After breakfast, you will spend the descending along the sasa trail back to Budadiri where you will relax, have an overnight at a prior booked close accommodation in Mount Elgon National Park.

Day 5 of your 5 days Mount Elgon National Park Uganda mountaineering safari

You will have relaxed breakfast at your lodging facility then be driven to Jinja for an evening boat cruise to the source of the Nile. After a cruise to the source of the Nile, you will be driven back to Kampala arriving in the evening.
